The Surprise In Your Pocket

Have you ever absent-mindedly left money is a coat or pair of pants? I have done it many times. You don't really even know that it is missing until you find it. It is a glorious moment. You reach your hand down into your pocket because you feel a piece of paper in there. You pull it out thinking it will be an old receipt or something like that. As your eyes meet the paper in your hand you realize in an instant that a God is smiling down on you. Who knew that a bad portrait of a dead guy could make your day? Thomas Hamilton or Andrew Jackson just brought you instant excitement.

It is weird that we misplace money like that, but it is awesome to find it. It has been reported that the US has misplaced a few dollars of cash in Iraq. Real cash, meant to help finance the reconstruction efforts. Was it $10 or $20? No it was a measly $9 Billion. Someone literally misplaced, or didn't account for where $9 Billion in paper money went. Both Democrats and Republicans are upset about this. I am not making a political statement by posting this, but I am wondering what it would be like to reach down in my old pair of jeans and find $9 Billion. How big would your pockets have to be to fit $9 Billion in cash? I found $40 bucks in my pocket once and I swore I had won the lottery.

How in the world do you lose $9 Billion?
