A $10,000 watch

How much money do you have to make a year to justify buying a $10,000 watch?

I was at the jewelery store the other day getting Mrs. Planner's wedding ring cleaned for our anniversary. I saw a really cool watch and I asked to try it on. They sales person was from the former Soviet Union, and I felt like I was on the deck of the submarine in The Hunt for Red October every time he opened his mouth.

Anyway, it was beautiful watch made by IWC (pictured above). I asked Vladimir (his real name) how much it was, and he mentioned that it is "priced well for a good starter watch". That was an intriguing statement.

"It is $10,595", he continued.

Gulp.

I felt insulted. Starter watch? He clearly didn't realize that he was talking to Pete the Planner (third person references are always good on Fridays). He didn't realize that I would be blogging about this.

So, I put the question to you. What does your income have to be to justify a $10,000 watch?

Forget the salary required to justify this purchase. If i'm spending 10g's on a watch the glare from all the diamonds should completely obstruct my view of the face. You know *bling bling*
