Learning a little bit about life from Mr Briggs

Many people say that cars are terrible investments. They depreciate in value the second you buy them. In fact, they depreciate 20% when you drive them off the car lot. They require constant maintenance, they usually involve a regular monthly car payment, and they generally force us into tough economic decisions.

Some people even abandon cars on the side of the road instead of fixing them. They usually take the plates off so that the authorities can't charge them for the trash removal. You have seen many beat up rusted out cars on the side of the road over the years. Heck, the car may only be worth $100.

Which brings us to Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs. Lance, not a Mensa member, abandon his $350,000 Lamborghini on a Chicago expressway two nights ago after crashing it. He ran from the scene because he didn't want  the crash to be investigated. Well, the problem is that he didn't own a 1994 red Pontiac Grand Am. He was driving the only brand new black Lamborghini in Chicago. Oh, and he had his license plate on it...and he was seen running from the scene...and he just had signed a new 8-figure contract...oh, and it was 3:30....AM.

What can we learn from Sir Lance-a-lot?
#1 You probably shouldn't abandon a car that is worth more than most peoples' homes.
#2 A $350,000 car supposedly depreciates $70,000 when you drive it off the lot.
#3 There is no reason to be driving a $350,000 car at 3:30 AM

Thanks Lance. You have taught us more than Adam Jones did.

Random thought *** I was making chicken last night for Mrs. Planner and I. A thought occurred to me: Why don't people ever stuff chicken with eggs? It seems natural, you are just putting the egg back in. Either way, it sounds like it wouldn't taste very good. Toodles.
